ABOUT THE EXAM

The qualification process (QV) for the BM consists of:

Written exams: In German, the chosen first foreign language (usually English or French), and mathematics.
Oral exams: In languages where free speaking and text analysis are the main focus.
Profile-specific exams: e.g., natural sciences for health/social sciences or information/communication/administration (IKA) for business.
The IDPA score is included in the final grade as a full-fledged, independent subject grade.

The calculation: The final grade for the subject is the average of the exam grade and the performance-based grade. A simple “failure” on the exam can therefore often be offset by strong grades throughout the school year.
Passing Requirements: Compliance with the national standard (average grade $geq$ 4.0, no more than 2 failing grades, and a deviation of no more than 2.0 points).

Spring 2027: Presentation and evaluation of the IDPA before the Aargau expert teams.
May/June 2027: Intensive phase of the written and oral BM exams in Aargau.
Late June 2027: Certificate presentation to be held in conjunction with the regular apprenticeship graduation ceremonies.
