In which subjects is the BM final exam administered?

The final exams at Zurich's vocational baccalaureate schools are standardized and, depending on the program, include both core subjects and specialized subjects.

Core Courses (for all tracks):
- German: Written exam (text production/essay or text analysis) and oral exam.
- English: Written and oral exams (often replaced by international certificates such as Cambridge Advanced/FCE).

The 50/50 Rule for Exam Subjects: The final grade for a subject on the BM transcript is calculated as 50% based on the cumulative grade (average of the semester grades) and 50% based on the exam grade (average of the written and oral exam scores).
Courses Without Exams: In courses that do not have a final exam (e.g., history and politics), the grade based solely on classroom performance serves as the final report card grade.
The IDPA Grade: The Interdisciplinary Project (IDPA) counts as a separate, full-fledged grade on the final transcript.

When is the vocational baccalaureate final exam considered passed?

The requirements for enrollment and graduation to obtain the Swiss Vocational Maturity Certificate are strictly regulated.

Overall Average: The overall grade (the average of all subject grades listed on the report card, including IDPA) must be at least 4.0.
Insufficient performance: No more than two subject grades may be below 4.0.
